Senior Finance Assistant

Cherry Professional is working with a well-established, service-based business to recruit a Senior Finance Assistant into a growing finance function. This is a hands-on role supporting the Financial Controller with the day-to-day running of the accounts, with real scope to get involved in month-end and process improvement for a group of small businesses
 
Location: Leicester LE4 (On-site, no hybrid)
Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: In the region of £32000 (depending on experience)
The role (key duties)

• Day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero
• Managing debtors and creditors
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Processing payroll in line with HMRC requirements (PAYE/NIC/pensions auto-enrolment)
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Maintaining accurate records and supporting year-end
• Liaising with external accountants and internal stakeholders

What we’re looking for

• AAT qualified
• Strong experience using Xero (or similar)
• Solid understanding of transactional finance and general ledger processes (incl. journals, accruals, prepayments)
• Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
• Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Confident communicator who can work independently
