Behaviour Support Mentor – Make a Lasting Difference

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential?

We are recruiting dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Mentors to work within specialist and mainstream schools across Bristol, Bath, and Weston-super-Mare from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may present with behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health needs, helping them to engage positively with education and develop essential life skills.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional support to manage their emotions, behaviour, and learning. You will build positive relationships, provide mentoring support, and help create a safe and structured environment where students can thrive.

You may support pupils with:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
  • Additional learning and communication needs
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring support
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Encourage engagement in learning and school activities
  • Promote confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals
  • Record and monitor student progress and wellbeing
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults
  • Backgrounds in youth work, support work, coaching, care, education, mentoring, or mental health support are highly desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • The ability to remain positive and professional in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people

Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential. Full training and support will be provided.
